Ukrainian Boy’s Anti-war Painting Set To Fetch Hundreds To Help Fight Russia

“It is a privilege to bring this spectacular art to a global audience and help a nation, and its artists, rise above adversity.

A 9-year-old Ukrainian boy’s poignant anti-war painting of a tank with a twisted cannon is set to fetch hundreds of pounds at auction.

The artwork, called “Stop the War,” was painted by Davyd Liashchenko who is staying in the UK while his father fights the Russian invaders.

Davyd’s powerful painting depicts a tank with a knot tied in the cannon under the word “Stop.”

It’s part of a major Ukraine Art Fundraising Auction featuring 150 paintings and sculptures by Ukrainian artists, including those fighting on the frontline.

The artworks are set to fetch thousands of pounds when they go under the hammer with all proceeds going to the artists, and their families.

Selfless Davyd has asked for proceeds from the sale of his painting, which is expected to raise between £150-£200 ($186-$249), to aid the war effort

“This sale will help to keep art alive amid the chaos of war.

“It offers works by Ukrainian artists for whom it is not only a profession but a vocation.

“Culture and art recede into the background in wartime. This sale will deliver an important message as Ukraine battles not only for its borders but for its artistic heritage.

“Funds raised will help Ukrainian artists and their families as they combat terrible circumstances.

“Feeling,” a diptych on canvas by Oleksandr Serdiuk.

“Some of the artists come from the east of Ukraine where their studios, universities, houses and lives have been affected or destroyed.

“This sale offers an opportunity not only to buy artwork you admire but to support a humanitarian cause.”

The Ukraine Art Fundraising Auction will be held at the Ukrainian Cathedral, on Sept. 13.
