Mark Wahlberg Stars In ‘Arthur The King’ Premiering On Friday

“Arthur The King” will premiere at the box office on Friday starring Mark Wahlberg, who is also the producer, that’s based on an incredible true story.
Wahlberg’s character, pro racer, Michael Light where he is in a racing competition for 435 miles and 10 ten days which several athletes in the Dominican Republic.
Light convinces sponsors to back him and a team of athletes for the adventure where they face the biggest challenge of their lives and their careers.
Along comes a street dog named Arthur, who guides them on their journey throughout the brazen the brazen journey. Light would eventually form an unbreakable bond with the dog as the team is pushed to the limits.
In the end, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty, and friendship means when going through difficult obstacles.
“Arthur The King” was in production with Lionsgate in association with eOne, a Tucker Tooley Entertainment/Canton Entertainment/Municipal Pictures production.
The film was based on the book “Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home” written by Mikael Lindnord.
Lindnord, athlete from Sweden and one of the executive producers, wrote the book based on his experience in 2014 Adventure Racing World Championship in Ecuador where his teammates met the street dog where it was severely wounded at a checkpoint during the race.
The Swedish athlete has been meaning to tell his story about what meeting the street dog taught him and his teammates.
“This process to make this movie has been going on for seven years, from the first call from the producers to today,” said Lindnord about creating the film. “Since Mark Wahlberg came on board, he never hesitated that this would be a movie. It feels very surrealistic for me of course when we are now finally here, and you hear the buzz.”
Wahlberg and his team brought Lindnord to get his perspective in order for the film to make it more authentic.
During the race in Ecuador, Lindnord used OutThere, a backpack company that was owned by his friend and race rival Mike Kloser.
OutThere is featured in the movie giving the brand much recognition of what real life was like during Lindnord’s time.
“Mikael’s and Arthur’s story is so moving that when we heard the movie was going to premiere here in the Vail Valley on its opening weekend, we wanted to be a part of it and try to benefit the community as well,” said Kloser about Lindnord telling his story in the feature film.
“Arthur The King” was directed by Simon Cellan Jones and a screenplay by Michael Brandt, who is also the executive producer. The film was also produced by Tucker Tooley, Mark Canton, Courtney Solomon, Tessa Tooley, and Stephen Levinson. Executive producers along with Lindnord & Brandt featured Dorothy Canton, Greg Renker, Zev Foreman, Jen Gorton, and Patty Long.
The cast along with Wahlberg includes Simu Liu, Juliet Rylance, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ali Suliman, with Bear Grylls as Himself, and Paul Guilfoyle.
