“Hannah Waddingham: Home For Christmas” will be featured on AppleTV+ on Wednesday as it is the latest Christmas song feature on the streaming platform.
It stars Hannah Waddingham, who was one of the main characters on AppleTV+’s Ted Lasso as Rebecca Welton, the owner of AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso’s boss.
She takes stage at the London Coliseum for her first holiday special that will be the main star of the stage spreading holiday cheer in a selection of classic Christmas songs.
The musical trailer teases aa reunion of her Ted Lasso castmates, and in a press conference in support for “Home For Christmas”, Waddingham spoke about what viewers can expect when tuning into the one-hour special.
“Well, I had guested on a couple of things here and there. And actually, in basic terms, my fabulous manager, Nick Todisco, said to me, ‘You know, we should actually do something here because you have such a beloved fan base from theater,’ both in the West,” said Waddingham about the making of the Christmas musical.
The musical features include Luke Evans, Phil Dunster, Leslie Odom Jr., Billy Harris, Sam Ryder, and Scott Baker, who is the special guest for the musical.
Waddingham has been featured in “How to Lose Friends & Alienate People” (2008), “Les Miserables” (2012), “Winter Ridge” (2018), “The Hustle” (2019), and “Hocus Pocus 2” (2022).
“I am like a child at Christmas. I love it,” said Waddingham in her interview with Billboard. “I don’t like acknowledging the fact that I’m nearly 50. I like to pretend that I’m still a little girl because I just find this time of the year totally magical.”
The music is directed by Hamish Hamilton, who had directed “The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show” in Los Angeles, the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, and “Beauty and the Beast: A 30thCelebration” (2022).
Hamilton will be directing the upcoming Academy Awards.
“I wanted the special to be something for everyone,” said Waddingham in an interview with Billboard. “I wanted a little boy or a little girl to go look at the background and go, ‘Wow.’ I want people to fall in love with the band. I want people to fall in love when they do a wide shot of the theater. I want people to shut their front doors, sit in front of the TV and feel hugged and loved and feel like they can smile and share something with a family, at any age, from four to 94.”
