“The Underdoggs” is about Jaycen “2 J’s” Jennings (Snoop Dogg) who is a former football star who made his make at his high school championship at Long Beach Polytechnic High School.

Jaycen would go on to become one of the best football receivers in the pro football leagues until a mistake forces him to commit to community service.

His reputation takes a hit being viewed with bad sportsmanship with a bad ego. Jaycen would be traded from team to team where he received brand endorsements as a professional.

Now returning back to his hometown of Long Beach, California, Jaycen is coaching a football team seen as the underdogs giving him a chance to rebuild his life.

“In his mind, Jaycen Jennings is the greatest m*********r to ever walk on grass,” said Snoop Dogg of his character. “He’s flamboyant, he’s a winner and he’s also an a**hole. He’s a ‘me’ kind of guy and when he’s forced to go back to his old neighborhood, he has to find his way again and tap into who he is, rather than who he thought he was.”

Jaycen would coach a kids football team along with his friend Kareem (Mike Epps), whom he reunites with after 20-years.

In reality, Long Beach is the hometown where Snoop Dogg grew up where the film takes place.

Snoop Dogg is also the producer of the film as well.

The film includes the legendary rapper turned TV personality, Mike Epps, Tuke Sumper, Elias Ferguson, George Lopez, Kal Penn, and Andrew Schulz.

Real like commentators and football legends including Tony Gonzalez, Deion Sanders, Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, Michael Strahan and Jay Glazer are also featured in the film.

“The Underdoggs” was produced by Kenya Barris, Constance Schwartz-Mornini, Mychelle Deschamps, and Jonathan Glickman. The executive producers were Jeremiah Samuels and Anni Weisband.

“It seems like R-rated comedies have become a lost art, but we need these kinds of movies,” said Schulz about being part of the film. “Sometimes it’s hard to take the risks that make an R-rated comedy good, but those are things that really make people laugh. “I’m glad that everyone in this film was willing to take some risks and allowed me to take a few, too!”

Snoop Dogg is an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, and Dallas Cowboys and is frequent follower of football.

He was also the founder of Snoop Youth Football League, which is a children’s football league to learn the values of teamwork and fundamentals of football.

“The Underdoggs” is rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America.
