BELFAST, Northern Ireland — On December 2, Michael Conlan will fight Jordan Gill in a 12-round bout at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Michael Conlan (18-2, 9 KOs) a former two-time world title challenger from Northern Ireland, is hoping to get back to his winning ways. When he fought Luis Alberto Lopez in May to defend his IBF featherweight title, he was stopped in the fifth round.

Conlan, 32, had previously won two straight fights following his unsuccessful initial attempt to win a world title in March of last year, when he lost to Leigh Wood via TKO in the 12th round.

“There’s an awful lot of reasons why. I know I’ll get him out of there. He lacks something. He has quit in him. And that’s it,” said Michael Conlan in media reports.

“But if you wanted to take confidence from anything, you know, I definitely can. And I’ve seen an awful lot of things throughout that time and even in his performances since that time, I’ve seen an awful lot of things where you go ‘yeah ok, I understand’. ‘I know what I got to do,” he added.

“So, going into Saturday night you can look back to the sparring all you want and I’m sure he probably does an awful lot but I’m just focused on the job and that’s going in there and getting the win on Saturday,” he continued.

Jordan Gill (27-2-1, 8 KOs), from England who was once champion of both Europe and the Commonwealth, enters the ring for the first time in more than a year and attempts to win back the fight.

Gill, 29, competed in October of last year, losing to Kiko Martinez by TKO in the fourth round and losing his EBU European featherweight title. He won the title in February 2022 by stopping Karim Guerfi in the ninth round.

“It’s going to be a great fight. When he boxed Leigh it was fight of the year. I’m expecting another one on Saturday. I’m really excited and ready to go. All of the pressure is on him. He’s the star of the show, I’m just the opponent,” said Jordan Gill in media reports.
