Snoop Dogg’s ‘No Smoke’ Announcement Sparks Doubt Amidst New Music Release

Fans question rapper's commitment to quitting smoking after recent music video shows him smoking

Rapper Snoop Dogg leaves fans wondering if he was serious about quitting smoking after he made a statement few days ago that was shared on a social media post. “After much consideration and conversation with my family , I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time,” said the rapper.

This comes shortly after a newly released song that was dropped seven days ago featuring T-Pain titled ‘ That’s How We Ballin’.  In the song, Snoop was seen smoking in portions in the six and a half minutes video that has already gathered almost 2 million views in one week. “This video was filmed before Snoop stopped smoking. Stay strong Unc support,” said T-Pain.

Other artists like Queen Latifah supported his decision after he made his sentiments while a number of others made fun out of it. “Define… smoke?” said actor Lamorne Morris in the comment section. “Didn’t he announce he stopped smoking 20 minutes ago?” asked an X user.

The ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ rapper has mentioned weed in most of his music and his shoots are done while he’s puffing smoke. Besides being a rapper he is also an song-writer, record producer, actor and an entrepreneur. He has several products like Snoop cereals, Dr Bombey Ice scream, Leafs by Snoop and a Cook book among others. “We first met around thirty years ago at the record store, it was nice seeing people at the record store buying from my ‘Doggy Style’ record. I was around 19 years back then, it was new and fresh for me and fun to watch how people gravitated to me and my music, I was not used to it, not used to people wanting my autograph and a picture. I was very shy and wasn’t sure about myself,” said Snoop in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel in October 2023.

His fame started back in 1992 when he featured in Dr. Dre’s debut solo single ‘Deep Cover’. Since the beginning of his career he has sold 23 million albums in the US and 35 million across the global. He has several awards that include American Music Award, a Primetime Emmy Award and 17 nominations at the Grammy Awards. He is married to Shante Taylor and together they have four children.
