Mexico’s Canelo Alvarez will square it off against one of the biggest boxing names in America, Jermell Charlo, for the undisputed Super Middleweight World Championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. The bout is  organized by Premier Boxing Champions and Canelo Promotions will air on Showtime PPV this Saturday.

The winner of the fight, between Alvarez and Charlo, will receive a special belt from the World Boxing Council – the Puebla belt.

“When I got the call for this fight, there was nothing I could say other than ‘let’s go.’ My whole career has kind of been all about chasing Canelo,” said Charlo in a media statement, “He’s been the top guy for a long time. The fight has presented itself now and I just have to get in there, do my job and be the best that I can be”

Canelo Alvarez says he’s the best fighter in the world though he has officially lost twice. Floyd Mayweather proved too smooth and technical in 2013 and while Dmitri Bivol also proved to be too much for Canelo when the two faced off in 2022,

Freddie Roach, a multiple-time Trainer of the Year and a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, sees a path to victory for Charlo which doesn’t have anything to do with Alvarez being off.

“Canelo needs to stay away from Charlo’s left hook,” said Roach. “The question is, can Canelo stay away from Charlo’s left hook? I don’t think he can, which is why I am picking Charlo by stoppage. I can’t wait for this one.”

Canelo’s bout this weekend will be the opening contest of a three-fight contract with PBC, which is managed by the illustrious boxing promoter Al Haymon.

The Mexican superstar, will be defending his undisputed super middleweight title Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas against undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo.

The 33 year old Canelo’s boxing achievements are immense. In what is being hailed as an epochal moment in boxing, he’ll be defending his WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO super middleweight crowns against Charlo in what maybe the biggest fight of the year.
