Former President Donald Trump’s fiery niece Mary Trump took potshots at Tesla CEO Elon Musk through posts on X, a social-media platform owned by the billionaire himself.
What Happened: Mary Trump, a psychologist by profession, agreed with Sherrilyn Ifill, former president & director-counsel of the Legal Defense Fund, who said Musk’s rise is a “self-inflicted assault on our already precarious democracy.”
“What have American business leaders and the U.S. government unleashed on our country by empowering the consolidated power this man holds?” Ifill said.
She was responding to Musk’s comments on X that “Woke is fundamentally anti-human.” In reply, Ifill said, “This is not normal. And it’s dangerous.”
Woke is an umbrella term used to refer to having a broader awareness of social inequalities such as sexism and LGBT rights. Republicans have opposed the wokeness, as they see it as an across-the-board denunciation of progressive values and liberal initiatives.
Mary Trump implied that she agreed with “Every word of this.”
Earlier this week, Mary Trump said in a separate post blamed Musk for destroying X, formerly Twitter.
Tagging Musk, she said, “The only person responsible for destroying Twitter (f**k off X), is the vile, anti-Semitic, pro-Russian, anti-democratic, fascist owner of the platform.”
No Love Lost: Mary Trump has in the past criticized Musk’s takeover of X, which was then called Twitter. In December when Musk suspended the accounts of several mainstream media journalists for divulging locations of users, Mary Trump called Musk a “thin-skinned Nazi enabler.”
She also said in the event of her being kicked out of the platform, her followers can find her on “Post” with the same handle.
When Musk rebranded Twitter as X, Mary Trump said, “Is Elon Musk an insecure prepubescent, incompetent moronic white supremacist OR was his goal all along to destroy Twitter.”
