Trump Faces Second Federal Indictment For Attempting To Overturn 2020 Election

Former President Trump Indicted for Election Interference

The Washington, D.C. grand jury indicted former president Donald Trump; however, the majority of the counts related to interfering with the transfer of power and tampering with the 2020 election have not yet been made public.

The indictment had included one count in conspiracy to defraud the United States of what is currently known right now.

This is the second federal indictment of the former president and the third of year. Special counsel Jack Smith had argued that the defendant had he knew he lost the election where he tried to place fake electors in different states.

The January 6 Select Committee findings were set up for Smith that continued the investigation into the former president.

Witnesses have stated that he refused to accept the results of the 2020 elections.

Former members of Congress Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger were the only Republicans in the committee to investigate Donald Trump’s actions to overturn the election.

“I hear that Deranged Jack Smith, to interfere with the Presidential Election of 2024, will be putting out yet another Fake Indictment of your favorite President, me, at 5:00 P.M. Why didn’t they do this 2.5 years ago? Why did they wait so long? Because they wanted to put it right in the middle of my campaign. Prosecutorial Misconduct,” said Trump on Truth Social, slamming the special counsel.

Trump had claimed that there were dead people who voted in states where President Joe Biden had won the election that included Georgia and Arizona, places that traditional vote Republican.

He has repeated to his surrogates that the election was stolen.

It is reported that Trump will be arraigned in a federal court in Washington on August 3 at 4:00 PM ET where he will be arraigned, according to Reuters.

“These un-American witch hunts will fail, and President Trump will be re-elected to the White House, so he can save our Country from the abuse, incompetence, and corruption that is running through the veins of our Country at levels never seen before,” said the Trump campaign in a statement in response to the indictment from the special counsel.

Trump is the first frontrunner primary candidate who is currently facing legal woes and more likely to be first candidate in the general election to do so.

“Despite having lost, the Defendant was determined to remain in power,” according to a written document. “The Defendant spread lies that there had been outcome-determinative fraud in the election and that he had actually won.”

In a press conference, Smith cited Trump of conspiring to overturn the election and attempt to stop the certification on January 6, 2021. Law enforcement was attacked on the day in order to defend the Capitol.

Six known collaborators, including a DOJ official, four attorneys, and a political consultant, says the former US Attorney Chuck Rosenberg, are mentioned in the indictment but not named but are unquestionably going to be targeted, according to Andrea Mitchell.
