Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Opposes Military Women’s Right To Abortion

Controversial remarks add to growing list of contentious statements by the Georgia Republican.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) addressed “amazing women” in the military while expressing her opposition to their right to have an abortion.

“Abortion is not health care in any way,” Greene said in a recent speech on the House floor, Raw Story reported.

“First, I’d like to acknowledge all the amazing women that serve in our nation’s military and the mothers that serve in our nation’s military,” she said.

Over 17% of women currently serve in the U.S. military according to the statistics from the Department of Defense.

“But I’d like to respond to something I heard a few minutes ago here. The pronouncement, the actual statement, that abortion is women’s health care. I would like to state, for the record, abortion is not health care in any way.”

Greene also accused abortion providers of “ripping the limbs off of an unborn baby, ripping its head off, killing it with chemicals inside its mother’s womb.”

The abortion controversy was sparked as the Supreme Court had overturned Roe v. Wade.

Greene’s comments come in the context of a bill passed by House Republicans that would prevent the Department of Defense from reimbursing abortion-related expenses.

Greene’s controversial remarks add to a growing list of contentious statements that have put her in the spotlight recently.

The crucial abortion debate is expected to fuel division both within the Republican primary and in the presidential election. Republican presidential candidates have been evasive when it comes to outlining their stance on federal abortion policy, often avoiding direct answers or providing inconsistent responses.

“Abortion is murder, and it’s evil,” she stated. “We should be supporting mothers in the military. We should be supporting women’s actual health care, and that is not abortion.”

Greene’s controversy of remarks about the military isn’t the first time she has praised the miliary leaker for leaking classified information.

The military leaker, 21-year-old Jack Teixiera was praised by the Georgia congresswoman to “expose” President Joe Biden.

“Jake Teixeira is white, male, Christian, and antiwar,” said Greene on Twitter. “That makes him an enemy to the Biden regime. And he told the truth about troops being on the ground in Ukraine and a lot more.”
