Stunning Photos Show Playful Dolphin Juggling Jellyfish

“After a few minutes, the dolphin just let the jellyfish go. Maybe because it was worried it would sting it.

The dolphin was captured in Amble harbor, Northumberland.

Extraordinary pictures show a playful dolphin “juggling” with a jellyfish off the UK coastline.

Photographs show the dolphin tossing the jellyfish up in the air with its nose before catching it and then lobbing it again.

Pensioner Linda Johnson captured the remarkable snaps while talking an afternoon stroll in Amble in Northumberland.

The dolphin ‘juggles’ the jellyfish.

She spent two hours tracking a pod of dolphins, which were playing a few hundred feet off the coast, before one swam into the harbor.

The pictures show the dolphin expertly flipping the helpless jellyfish several feet into the air before catching it on its nose.

Linda, who lives in Amble, said: “I was standing on the end of the pier to watch a pod of them playing out to sea.

“It’s lovely, but they don’t always come in. They’re wild animals. Quite a few of us track them, but there’s no guarantee that they’re going to come here.

ISTANBUL, TURKEY – AUGUST 28: An underwater photo shows a jellyfish after the mucilage (sea snot) was cleared off Istanbul coasts on August 28, 2021. “They play with all sorts and they play with seaweed. They play with anything. I don’t have a clue why. They can just be very playful. When I checked my pictures I realized this dolphin was jellyfish juggling. I’ve never seen that before. “I had no idea what this one dolphin was doing at first, but it seemed to be throwing something up into the air.

“The dolphins were there for nearly two hours. It was difficult to see them on the choppy day, but I’m delighted to have seen such a rare sight.
