Trump Lawyer Giuliani Seeks Cooperation Deal With Special Counsel

Former President Trump, 2024 presidential election hopeful, has a great deal to worry about as he faces dozens of criminal charges

Former President Donald Trump, who is currently campaigning for the 2024 presidential election, has a great deal to worry about as he faces dozens of criminal charges.

To add insult to injury, Trump’s former personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has entered into a proffer agreement with the Special Counsel Office.

Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s attempt to overturn the result of the 2020 election appears to be heating up. “Last week, Giuliani, whose actions are also being investigated, attended a voluntary interview with Smith and his team of prosecutors,” said the New York Times.

“The appearance was entirely voluntary and conducted professionally,a political adviser to Giuliani,” said Ted Goodman according to the outlet.

The interview focused “on some of the most important aspects of the special counsel’s inquiry” into Trump’s efforts to cast President Joe Biden’s 2020 win as illegitimate, people familiar with the matter told the Times.

Specifically, Smith appears to be looking into Trump’s alleged plan to install fake electors in key swing states to overturn the election results and what role John Eastman, a Trump advisor and attorney, played in the effort.

“Smith is also reportedly investigating the actions of Sidney Powell, who promoted conspiracy theories that claimed voting machines were hacked by foreign actors, a matter that Smith discussed with Giuliani,” said the report.

The Special Counsel also inquired about a meeting that took place at the Willard Hotel prior to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, where Giuliani, Eastman, Steve Bannon and Boris Epshteyn gathered to discuss strategies.

The news may worry Trump because a proffer agreement indicates Giuliani is cooperating with the Special Counsel, possibly providing damning evidence against Trump to secure a formal cooperation agreement to avoid potential prosecution.
