Trump Alleges Plagiarism Of DeSantis’ Campaign Slogan

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his presidential campaign on Twitter with the slogan the “Great American Comeback”.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his candidacy for President of the United States onTwitter Wednesday with the slogan, “Great American Comeback.”

Former President Donald Trump has leveled an accusation of plagiarism against DeSantis for the slogan, alleging the Florida Governor copied from Trump’s 2020 State of the Union Address.

Former President Donald Trump and his campaign have leveled an accusation of plagiarism against DeSantis for the slogan, claiming DeSantis plagiarized the former president’s 2020 State of the Union speech.

“Perhaps, the DeSantis communications staff was pre-occupied attempting to extinguish the flames of their candidate’s announcement to come up with their own message,” the Trump campaign said in a posting on the campaign’s website.

In his 2020 State of the Union address, Trump said, “Three years ago, we launched the Great American Comeback. Tonight, I stand before you to share the incredible results.”

DeSantis appeared to mimic the phrase when he announced his own campaign, stating, “I’m Ron DeSantis, and I’m running to lead the Great American Comeback.”

Trump has launched a relentless assault on DeSantis since he announced his presidential bid during a Twitter Spaces session with Elon Musk on Wednesday that was marred by technical glitches. Apart from Trump  nicknaming the Florida Governor “Ron DeSanctus” and “Rob DeSanctimonious,” Trump posted a video to his Instagram account that mockingly simulated the chaotic Twitter Spaces session.

“Ron DeSantis’ botched campaign announcement is another example of why he is just not ready for the job,” said Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for the pro-Trump super PAC Make America Great Again, Inc. “The stakes are too high, and the fight to save America is too critical to gamble on a first-timer who is clearly not ready for prime time.”

One of Trump’s allies — Republican Florida Representative Matt Gaetz — also joined the fray. Gaetz took to Twitter, branding the incident as a “DeSedative.”

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, too, expressed support for Trump and tweeted, “I’m ready for the Great American Comeback with President Donald J. Trump.”

DeSantis has received a number of endorsements from prominent Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, including Chip Roy (TX-21), Bob Good (VA-5), Rich McCormick (GA-6), and Laurel Lee (FL-15).

Trump is using the same slogan that he used in 2016 and 2020, “Make America Great Again!”

The late former President Ronald Reagan used the slogan “Let’s Make America Great Again” in his 1980 presidential campaign when he won against former President Jimmy Carter.
