I am an award-winning Jakarta-based foreign correspondent and editor. I have covered Indonesia and Southeast Asia the past 24 years for leading global publications including The New York Times, Newsweek and The Economist. I am the founding editor of the Jakarta Globe newspaper as well as Strategic Review: The Indonesian Journal of Leadership, Policy and World Affairs. I am a former war correspondent who did multiple tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. I am the 2016 co-winner of The Society of Publishers in Asia Awards for Editorial Excellence for breaking news reporting.
